Faraday started work as an apprentice bookbinder, but moved on to become an assistant to Sir. H. Davy in 1812. Many have said that Faraday was Davy's greatest discovery. Faraday proved himself a brilliant scientist whose greatest achievement was the discovery of magneto-electricity. He is also credited with originating the theory of the atom as a center of force and developing electro-chemistry. His best-known work is Experimental Researches in Electricity (1839-1855).
