Educated at the Corp of Pages in St. Petersburg, Kropotkin's scientific abilities and contributions won him early recognition and a promising career, however in 1871 he turned his abilities to the cause of social justice.He was imprisoned in 1874 following his conversion to anarchism, but escaped to England where he remained until the onset of the Russian Revolution. Among his many books, it is worth mentioning his The Great French Revolution 1789-1793 (1909) and his Memoirs (1899).
