Having studied nursing, she married a physician, Stanley M. Rinehart, in 1896. She embarked on a writing career in 1903 when the family experienced severe financial difficulties. Her writing proved very popular and in 1908, published her first book, The Circular Staircase. Rinehart was also a war correspondent in the First World War and wrote several travel books. She is perhaps best remembered for her detective and mystery stories. Rinehart was also a contributor to the Saturday Evening Post for many years. |
