Educated at the College of the City of New York and Columbia University, Sinclair did journalistic work to support himself during his college years. His first successful novel was The Jungle (1906), which was a best-seller. Sinclair wrote some 80 books and ran for governor of California in 1934, but was defeated. His other best-known works include The Money Changers (1908), King Coal (1917), The Brass Check (1919), Oil (1927), Boston (1928) and Dragon's Teeth (1942). |
