Educated at the Moscow Cadet School from 1882 to 1889, Scriabin also studied music during this time. He entered the Moscow Conservatory in 1888, graduating in 1892. He gave his first public performance in St. Petersburg in 1894. From 1893 to 1903, Scriabin taught at the Moscow Conservatory. In 1904, he settled in Switzerland. He toured the United States from 1906 to 1907 and Belgium in 1908. Scriabin's works include ten piano sonatas (among his most memorable works), a concerto, numerous preludes and shorter piano works, three symphonies, and other orchestral works including Prometheus and Poeme de l'extase. |
