One of the most popular authors of the late 19th century, Corelli was said to have been among Queen Victoria's favorite authors. Her first book, A Romance of Two Worlds, was published in 1886. She would go on to write 28 novels, most of which dealt with mystery, the occult, psychic experience, etc. Among her many popular works were Barabbas: A Dream of the World's Tragedy (1893), The Sorrows of Satan (1895), The Murder of Delicia (1896), The Master Christian (1900), Temporal Powers (1902), The Young Diana (1917) and The Secret Power (1921). |
