Originally a playwright, Goddard turned to writing screenplays later in his career. Probably his most famous work was The Perils of Pauline (1914), which was originally filmed as a silent movie and also dramatised for radio, in both cases in serial versions. His Broadway plays included The Misleading Lady (1913), The Ghost Breaker (1913), Miss Information (1915), The Last Laugh (1915) and The Broken Wing (1920). Besides Pauline, his screenplays included The Exploits of Elaine (1914), The Goddess (1915), The Mysteries of Myra (1916), Patria (1917) and The Hope Diamond Mystery. |
