Educated at Harvard University, where he received his Masters in 1903, England worked as a journalist. In 1912, he began publishing his science-fiction trilogy, Darkness and Dawn with the first part being The Vacant World. Beyond the Great Oblivion, the second part, appeared in 1913 as did the third, The Afterglow. Many consider his trilogy to be his best work. His other novels included The Golden Blight (1912), The Air Trust (1915), Bill Jenkins, Buccaneer (1917), Cursed (1919), Keep Off the Grass (1919), The Flying Legion (1920), The White Wilderness (1922), Vikings of the Ice (1923), Adventure Isle (1925) and Isle of Romance (1929). |
