Died: Feb. 1, 1940 - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
Educated at the University of Pennsylvania, Nowlan worked as a newspaper columnist for some years before turning to science fiction writing. In 1928, he published Armageddon 2419 AD, which introduced the highly popular character of Buck Rogers, and which appeared as a novelette in Amazing Stories magazine. The success of this led to the serialization of a Buck Rogers cartoon which Nowlan wrote beginning in 1929. He continued to write the script for this until 1939. Nowlan's other works include numerous stories in science fiction magazines plus The Girl From Nowhere (1928) and The Airlords of Han (1929).
