THE MAN WHO LOVED WOMEN TOO MUCH is a collection of nine stories about diverse characters in seventeenth and eighteenth century Spain and America who, although resolutely defiant of orthodoxy, eventually succumb to the Inquisition. Each story is based on documents preserved in archives and books about the Inquisition. The authors originally intended to integrate the stories into their larger book on the Spanish and American Inquisition, THE AUTO DE FÉ. Jews, Heretics, Gays and the Royal Spanish Inquisition (being considered for publication at Oxford University Press, New York), but the stories didn't quite fit, so the authors are publishing them as a separate volume. Each story says something different about the Inquisition.
